I am sure that I write on behalf of a lot of the population when I say that Estate Planning and discussing what happens if our loved ones were to pass away is a bit of a ‘Taboo’ subject! I will be the first to admit that it is not a subject I feel comfortable with discussing, especially growing up, as my Father will not even watch a funeral procession on T.V – strangely enough though, he has recently retired to a bungalow home next to a Crematorium!

However, working at a Specialist Estate Planning Firm, it has opened up my eyes that just for a few ‘uncomfortable’ meetings and discussions; you can have planning in place that can ease the heartache and worry of your loved ones left behind.

Not only can we help keep your hard earned assets within your own family bloodlines, making sure that the right money goes to the right people at the right time, we also specialise in Inheritance Tax Planning and making sure your assets are correctly protected as much as possible. So again, your hard earned wealth doesn’t disappear to HMRC and instead gets passed safely to your loved ones.

I have a prime example that I wanted to share with you, of a well known celebrity, Rik Mayall. You may have seen and read articles on this; I know that it has been floating around Social Media sites. For those of you who haven’t heard this story, Rik Mayall unexpectedly died in June 2014 at the young age of 56. He did not have a Will in place for any of his assets or wishes. Aside from the fact that the Actors wishes were not documented and therefore cannot be followed, his lack of preparation will actually create an Inheritance Tax Bill on his £1.2 million Estate! This could have been avoided if the right type and correct planning was put into place for him and his family, before disaster struck. Instead this will cause unnecessary headaches and complications for his Wife and children, in such a devastating time. It goes to show that it doesn’t matter who you are, famous or not famous, wealthy or not wealthy, we all have the same problems to solve and families to care for!

The Moral of the story is to take some action now, rather than no action at all. We run various FREE Estate Planning Seminars throughout the year, held at various venues; please click here to check out our list of upcoming Seminars on our website and book your FREE place today, for some interesting and important information on Estate Planning and protecting your wealth and loved ones!
